Hi. My name is Violeta and I'm a freelance children's book illustrator.
With a BA degree in Fine Arts/Graphic Design and after a strong professional grounding in children's book illustration over five years spent working for a local publishing house I left full-time employment to work freelance.

While working freelance can be a challenge, I find it hard to imagine myself doing anything else. I've always loved the artistic and magic side of life and the world of children's illustration gives me the endless and greatest possibility to express my feelings and creativity. I bring my fine arts background into my work, trying not to merely illustrate characters and situations, but rather create whimsical and unique environments for my characters. I want my art to bring joy and to speak to children’s hearts. I keep my work simple and clear but I pay meticulous attention to detail. I try to make warm and delicate, fresh and creative, colorful and magic pictures.

I strive to bring a unique perspective to every project. To achieve this I'm always looking to develop and diversify in my style and mediums. I use a variety of mediums for my art, from traditional colored pencils, watercolor, gouache and oil to digital media. I also love combining traditional and digital media in my work for desired effect.

I have illustrated over 25 children's books but I am also very familiar with greeting cards, t-shirts, logos and editorial illustration. My latest achievement is to have my work selected for Archive Special 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide 2007.
